Duration and Response
DanielRose Projects’ “Duration and Respond” is a week-long performance project rooted in the Mad River Valley and surrounding areas. Ross Daniel and Sarah Rose will use their generative practice, Duration and Respond, to create scenic design, sound design, and choreographic material. Their process begins with 45-minute movement improvisations at selected sites around the Valley. Following these movement practices, the pair responds to their experience by gathering sound and scenic elements specific to that place. Over time, they synthesize the movement, sound design, and scenic design into a structured performance work. This process allows the viewer to see the work develop from first seed idea to finalized work. Sarah Rose and Ross Daniel will conduct their movement practice and responsive sculpture building at the following sites: Warren town center (July 18, 10:00am), Warren falls (July 18, 12:30pm), outside of the Ben and Jerry’s factory (July 19, 12:00pm), outside of Alchemist (July 19, 3:30pm), top of Sugarbush Lincoln Peak (July 20, 11:00am), outside of American Flatbread (July 20, 6:00pm), and the Waitsfield Mad River Green (July 21, 10:30am). All of these site performances are free and open to the public. This research will culminate in two ticketed performances at Phantom Theater’s Edgecomb Barn on July 21 and 24 at 8:00 pm. Daniel and Rose also invite you to join them on Sunday, July 22 from 12:00-2:00 pm for their free (donations gratefully accepted) community class at the Edgecomb Barn. In this class, Ross and Sarah will take participants through a version of their generative process. The class is open to any and all moving bodies.

The beautifully renovated Big Red Barn at Lareau Farm in Waitsfield is home to a unique show of more than 80 outstanding watercolor paintings from across North America. Three jurors who hold membership in nationally recognized watercolor societies selected the best paintings from a large pool of entries. All work must be created using a water-based medium remaining solvent when dry. The exhibition also includes paintings by the jurors, the judge, guest artists and the curator.
A complete list of the awards, the artists and award donors can be found under the tab “Shows/Workshops” Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition.
The exhibition is open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon to 9 pm until the show ends on Saturday, July 28. Trained docents are on hand during open hours to greet visitors, answer questions and handle sales of artwork.
